Two short loops in a beautiful little park near the ferry terminal in Swartz Bay:
A beautiful early morning urban/beach walk in Sidney. Lots of beach access point for views out to the harbour.
Mount Work is the dominant hill from many vantage points in The Greater Victoria area. You can hike to the mountain summit from the north or the south, on trails that lead through natural glacial rock formations and involve a fair amount of scrambling. The route described here is from the north. Follow the Pat Bay Highway from Victoria, and take the West Saanich Road exit. From West Saanich Road, turn left on Wallace Drive, and left again on Willis Point Road. Turn left on Ross-Durrance Road, which leads to the park entrance on the left.
A continuation of the Lochside Park that runs along the waterfront in Sidney, BC. Sidney is a great escape for fog bound north islanders seeking a short winter vacation. Part of this trail runs along the downtown waterfront past the Anacortes Ferry, upscale condos and pricey tourist shops, another part strings together beach accesses along residential roads. A great way to explore this funky and friendly town.
