A Walkabout is defined as a “ritual journey” –a period of travel or a walking trip that traces the spiritual paths and heroic deeds of our ancestors. In keeping with the idea that life is a journey of personal discovery, we offer some brief trail description of favourite walking routes on Vancouver Island.  Most of the walks are between one and two hours, and are a mixture of quiet country roads, beaches and short trail segments strung together as an easy to moderate loop which takes in some water or natural feature.  Each trail description includes an accurate measure of distance determined by a GPS, time, a rating of the level of difficulty, a map, and a detailed directions.  This trail guide is offered free of charge as a service to the public. I only ask that you walk safely and with respect.

Although these are not technical routes even easy walks present some hazards and you need to be prepared.  Wear adequate clothing and footwear; carry a map, compass, GPS and emergency supplies. Please respect the environment and the property of others.
